Marianne Wendt

Marianne Wendt is a screenwriter, head writer and showrunner for film/TV. She holds a professorship for screenwriting at the Film University Babelsberg and lectures in the “European Showrunning Program” at the ifs Cologne. After studying architecture (Berlin University of the Arts) and theater directing (University of Hamburg), Marianne worked as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater Berlin with directors such as Einar Schleef, Andreas Kriegenburg, Jürgen Gosch, Thomas Langhoff and since 2001 as a freelance director at various state and municipal theaters in Germany and Poland.

In 2006 she completed the “Fiction producer TV” course at the ISFF Berlin. In 2006/07 she was a scholarship holder of the Munich Screenplay Workshop (University of Television and Film HFF Munich) and received the Tankred Dorst Prize for her screenplay “Half of Life”.

Marianne Wendt is the creator and showrunner of the 8-part drama series “NEUMATT” (8×45 min, 3 seasons, SRF/Zodiac Pictures). Neumatt is the first Swiss series to be listed on Netflix in 190 countries and available in 30 languages. She wrote and supervised the series “WER WIR SIND” (6×45 min, MDR, NDR, Degeto/Viafilm) as creator and writer-producer. The drama series aired on ARD in November 2023 and was presented at Seriesmania 2023 as part of “Coming next from Germany”. The six-part miniseries “EDEN” (SWR/Arte France, co-created with Edward Berger) received the Grimme Preis Spezial 2020.
