Dad, adventurer, and “a little better every day” environmentalist… or in reverse order: Sascha “Utti” Utecht, born when CO₂ levels were at 338 ppm (1980), is certain—based solely on his experience as a quality, environmental, and energy manager—that: We can only make a difference for our planet if we’re open to new approaches!
This conviction has also encouraged the enthusiastic storyteller, surfer, and global citizen to embark on an even bolder adventure — in addition to moving to the Portuguese Atlantic coast: to throw his successful career overboard in order to devote himself wholeheartedly to the Amazing Surfbots Eco Rescue Team — and thus to the mission close to his heart for his own son and all other children: Sustainability as an action-adventure—both in fiction (books, audio plays, etc.) AND in reality (podcasts, eco-recreational activities, community)!
I’m involved with Climate Fiction Writers Europe because sustainability issues belong in children’s stories too—but filled with adventure, laughter, and positivity, so that children can hold onto those superpowers that so many adults have long since lost: open-mindedness, team spirit, and that encouraging feeling that everything will turn out all right in the end!
