Ute Bareiss

Don’t dream your life, live your dream!

With this in mind, Ute (U.T.) Bareiss set off to sail around the world at the beginning of the millennium and moved her writing and translation office from Stuttgart on board her sailing catamaran “Taimada”. Together with her husband, she explores the world above and below the water. From the Mediterranean via Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America, the South Seas, Oceania, Australia, Indonesia to the Far East, the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea – they have already circumnavigated the world once, but the journey continues, there is still so much to discover.

What better way to inspire them to dive into other worlds and present important topics packed into captivating stories than exotic places and foreign cultures? Not only in her travel reports for various magazines, but also in suspenseful thrillers, exciting situations from her everyday life are reflected in many facets.

The thriller series about marine biologist Alex Martin is set in various locations around the globe, which she has explored as part of her circumnavigation of the globe, while the (environmental) crimes on Borneo are fought by lawyer David Kepler and biologist Floriana Anders.

Under the pseudonym of Helen Paris, the author brings out her romantic side in feel-good novels. Nature and the environment are always unobtrusively featured on the pages of her books.

She also works as a freelance editor and translator and is very actively involved in voluntary work for authors’ and environmental associations.

I am involved with Climate Fiction Writers Europe because literature offers a great opportunity to bring nature and environmental issues to a wide audience in an exciting and unobtrusive way. Together we can achieve a lot.

Suddenly everything happened very quickly.
The mercenaries stormed towards their hiding place.
David stood up and faced five Uzis pointing at him.”

The company proudly bears the green label for sustainability and is extremely generous to its employees. Once he arrives in Borneo, however, there are growing doubts about the seriousness of the multi-billion dollar company. Why would anyone be interested in monitoring it? Was the death of his predecessor really an accident?

David finds support from biologist Floriana Anders, who is passionately committed to protecting the endangered orangutans and the last lowland rainforests of Borneo. Together they try to uncover the dark machinations of his company. In the process, they find themselves in mortal danger …
