Alina Melzl, who was born in a small village in Bavaria, is studying the theories and practices of professional writing in Cologne. She has harboured a dream of writing ever since she first scribbled her first letters on paper as a little girl. Since then, she has produced numerous short stories and novel projects.
Her debut novel, the climate fantasy young adult novel “Wo Licht und Schatten Eins sind” (“Where Light and Shadow Are One”), was published in 2024. A second instalment is currently in the works.
She loves writing in cafés with others and books that stir the emotions and inspire. Alongside her studies and her passion for books, she is also an active competitive athlete.
I am involved with Climate Fiction Writers Europe because I believe that literature, art and culture can have a positive influence on society and its values. There has once again been a dangerous lull in public discussion of climate change and environmental protection. Through my books, I hope to play a small part in keeping this issue in people’s minds and, hopefully, to inspire someone or two.
