Nicole Schaa, born in Kraichgau in 1972, began her creative career as a trained photographer and freelance designer. Inspired by her daughter’s imaginative thoughts, she published a series of children’s books about the little forest fairy Schimmerie Harztropf in 2016. Part one of the fairy adventures was presented as a 360-degree animated show at the Wolfsburg Planetarium on the same day it was published.
Since 2018, she has been creating magical forest experiences for elementary school children, combining stories, imagination, and nature. With her book “Mumpitz, Schmu & Kinkerlitzchen im rätselhaften Drömlingsmoor” (“Mumpitz, Schmu & Kinkerlitzchen in the Mysterious Drömling Moor”), published in 2021, she focused her work on the UNESCO Drömling Biosphere Reserve for the first time. This led to the creation of the “Magical Drömling Trail” in 2024 in cooperation with the biosphere reserve in a forest near Velsdorf, close to Calvörde.
Her training as a WALDWOHL® trainer and certified forest bathing instructor deepened her focus on mindfulness in the forest—especially for elementary school children and adults. Today, she lives and works on the outskirts of Wolfsburg and offers a wide range of events: forest being workshops, readings, educational vacations, forest health courses, and campaigns to protect the natural night and prevent light pollution.
With the book “Zauber, Zoff und Zapperlot!”, published in 2025 by her own publishing house “Entdecke den Zauberwald” (“Discover the Enchanted Forest”), she completed her experiential and reading promotion project “Zauber!Wald!Wunder!” (Magic!Forest!Wonder!), which uniquely combines nature experiences, imagination, and creative reading promotion.
I am involved with Climate Fiction Writers Europe because I am convinced that the climate issues of our time should be communicated not only factually but also artistically in order to arouse compassion and promote an attitude of inner sincerity.

The three friends from the Enchanted Forest realize too late that they have ventured too far while playing and have lost their way in the magical Drömlingsmoor. As if that weren’t enough, the young mouse Mumpitz, the little forest spirit Schmu, and the lively water fairy Kinkerlitzchen also encounter the eerie bog spirit.
As guardian of the extraordinary natural landscape, he sets the companions a series of tricky tasks that they can only solve if they behave respectfully towards the protected wetland. Will the three little intruders ultimately solve the riddle of the old marsh witch and be allowed to leave the moor again?
“An enchanting mystery story that the whole family will enjoy. With lovingly woven details from our region, the author lets us see the beauty of our biosphere reserve through the sparkling eyes of a child!”
– Fred Braumann, Director of the Drömling Biosphere Reserve Administration, Saxony-Anhalt
Take a moment and close your eyes quickly: Can you hear the rustling of the leaves in the wind? The mysteries of the night will come and go, you will be amazed, so much can happen!
With these words, the mysterious creature disappeared, but its magic still fills every corner of the Enchanted Forest. There, night after night, the little forest fairy Schimmerie Harztropf explores the magical greenery. Thanks to her inexhaustible curiosity, she and her best friend, the fairy wolf Luminus, embark on thrilling fairy adventures in every season.
In spring, the companions meet the flower fairy Vivi Farbtupf, who causes quite a stir among the animals.
During an unusual summer night, the friends search for constellations believed to be lost with Horatio Dachs.
Autumn appears in the form of Autumnus, who conjures up a tingling sensation in the feathers of Farafino, the stork who loves to travel.
In the depths of winter, Schimmerie and Luminus say goodbye together with the forest mouse Pippa Katzpech—or is it the beginning of something completely new?
“Luminus, don’t you sometimes wonder what a sunny day looks like?” This question simply won’t leave Schimmerie Harztropf, the little forest fairy from Hasselbach Valley, out of her mind. She would love to experience her beloved forest by day. But as soon as the sun rises, forest fairies fall into a deep magical sleep.
On the night of the big summer festival, Schimmerie roams through the forest with her best friend, the fairy wolf Luminus, in search of answers. They encounter interesting forest dwellers such as the tawny owl Fidelius Mausgraus, who enjoys telling them about his daytime adventures.
But suddenly Schimmerie and Luminus discover a magical thread that seems to come from the middle of the night sky—and shortly afterwards, the whole sky is turned upside down. The two friends embark on a turbulent adventure in which Schimmerie’s deepest wish comes true in an unusual way. But disaster looms: day and night threaten to become completely confused. Is Schimmerie’s magic strong enough to put everything back in order?
It is a wonderfully stormy night in Hasselbach Valley. Laughing, Schimmerie Harztropf and her best friend Luminus chase the autumn winds. But suddenly, the little forest fairy loses control, gets caught in the branches of the old willow tree—and disappears without a trace.
While the fairy wolf Luminus does everything he can to save his girlfriend, Schimmerie finds herself in a strange world. Deep underground, she ends up in the clutches of a joyless people, the Faseltaki. The cruel King Frotsch and his henchman Löwengram prevent her from returning home.
Fortunately, the friendly forest mouse Pippa takes the forest fairy under her wing. Mikka, who is different from the other Faseltaki, also tries to protect Schimmerie. Because Mikka has a secret.
Can the friends break the spell of the Sinister World?
“ That is. . . ,” stammered Lenny,
“. . . a really big. . . ,” grunted Nick
“Dragon!” cried Mayla, pricking up her ears and whiskers.
Ever since nine-year-old Lenny found the injured owl Tori, strange things have been happening in the forest. But when Mayla suddenly walks through a mysterious portal, everything becomes even crazier. Curious, Lenny and his annoying brother Nick follow her—and discover a magical Enchanted Forest.
There, the three suddenly transform into animals: Lenny becomes a fox, Mayla a cat, and Nick—no surprise—a wild boar.
Time is running out to save Tori—and a dragon is needed! Only a real dragon kiss can heal the little owl. But the scaly monster the children happen to encounter is anything but helpful.
Can they change the grumpy dragon’s mind and find their way home before it’s too late?
