A rising sea level.
A young woman who sees what no one is supposed to know.
Dead scientists on a remote oil rig.
And a secret that could plunge the world into chaos.
In the autumn of 2058, the last dykes give way. The North Sea floods Germany’s coastal areas. The Bundeswehr is in a state of emergency and is evacuating villages and towns. Journalist Nick Schaefer also helps to evacuate his mother from her home village. Things couldn’t get any worse, he thinks. But in the midst of this chaos, he receives a cry for help from his ex-girlfriend Emily. She is terrified for her life. Apparently, she is in possession of evidence of a devastating environmental scandal that has cost the lives of several critical scientists.
Emily wants to go public with her information, but she has long since been targeted by overwhelmingly powerful enemies. And now Nick is in their sights too.
How can the two of them save themselves from their deadly adversaries? And what is the nature of the terrible secret that this powerful institution has been trying to keep hidden by any means necessary for many years?
