Christoph Buchfink

Christoph Buchfink has been active as an actor, puppeteer, author and director throughout the German-speaking world for over 30 years. In many of his theater productions, the view of nature and human interaction with it plays a major role.

With the children’s novel “Lykke Eira – Zwergenreise” (Herodot-Verlag), published in 2025, he has succeeded in combining fantastic characters, an adventurous search for the lost home glacier and the consequences of human encroachment on nature.

Ich engagiere mich bei den Climate Fiction Writers Europe, weil ich Kindertheatergeschichten und Kinderbücher zu diesem Thema entwickelt habe und gerne mehr in den Austausch gehen möchte.

Lykke Eira – Zwergenreise (Lykke Eira – Dwarf Journey)

The quest for the lost glacier

The home of the snow dwarf girl Lykke Eira is in danger of disappearing. The glacier is melting away from the snow dwarves. Fear and panic set in … but Lykke Eira (“Happy Snowflake”) has a helpful suggestion to make. The only problem is that no dwarf children are heard in the great dwarf council. Out of anger and disappointment, she stomps across the glacier, triggers a snow slab … and falls into the valley in an avalanche.

Now she has to find a new way back to her beloved home glacier. But this leads her to many unknown areas, where all the dangerous creatures she has always been warned about live. But these strange creatures have one problem in common: humans!

The river is blocked off for the water gnomes, the forest twerks are deforested, the moor is dried up for the moss dwarves and low dwarves, and even snow ferrets, scrapers and stone gnomes don’t have it easy …
